Pay the extra money and stay somewhere else... you'll be much happier. Rooms are disgusting, smelly, and uncleaned. Pillows and beds came from the dumpster more than likely. Don't take your kids here, there's drug addicts roaming parking lot all night. Owners are foreign and out to rip you off. Following day, after checkout, someone tried to charge stuff to our credit card . Do not give these people your credit card. We wouldn't stay here again if it was free. Good luck to you if you stay here. Ps.... No garbage cans in rooms or trash bags available. No pool, pictures are very deceiving..anyone who gives this place a 5 star rating either got paid to do it, are related to the owner,or lived in a dumpster prior to staying here. Owners are disgusting and rude and highway thieves. You will be charged Xtra,no refunds, so just go somewhere else and be happy and have fun. Will ruin your vacation

My family and I recently booked rooms at Lake Erie Lodge from Thursday to Sunday, and it was an extremely disappointing experience. We had booked three rooms, all of which were in unacceptable condition.
Upon arrival, we were met with filthy rooms that had black mold, and one of our rooms was infested with cockroaches. Around 1 AM, cockroaches were spotted in room 52, where one-third of our family was staying. The other two rooms were equally appalling, covered in grease, grime, and mold. Due to the poor conditions, we were unable to sleep and felt extremely uncomfortable throughout our stay.
When we went to the office at 2 AM, to tell them we were checking out and why, we were told we needed to speak with the manager or owner in the morning. My brother and I, drove back the next day, and we were informed that the owner would not be available until the following week but we were able to speak with him on the phone. Despite mentioning that other reviews had also reported similar issues, the owner claimed he was unaware of the cockroach problem. He advised us that he would call an exterminator and email me a copy of the report next week. It felt disingenuous given the consistent negative feedback found elsewhere.
We were offered a refund only for room 52 due to the cockroaches but were denied refunds for the other rooms despite their unsanitary conditions. Additionally, we were informed that we could not receive a copy of the agreement we signed at check-in, only a receipt of payment.
This experience significantly marred the beginning of our family vacation. The initial friendliness of the owner during booking did not translate into the service or conditions we expected. Given the state of the rooms and the unhelpful management, I strongly advise against booking with Lake Erie Lodge. Please heed the reviews and avoid this establishment to prevent a similar experience.

Don't waste your time or money. Paid for the trip on Expedia and the creeper in the lobby wanted another $100 for deposit (which I'd have no problem with if it were listed on the site when booking) also another review stated it took a year to get the deposit refunded. We ended up renting another room elsewhere that night. This place felt creepy and unsafe. The fish tank in the lobby was filthy. We had to call find find who could check us in. We never even made it to the room based on the checking process and yet the owner refused to refund my stay via expedia. And expedia couldn't assist. So don't waste your money. Go to Motel 6 down the road.

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Lake Erie Lodge on 06/15/2024. Despite making a reservation well in advance, I was told upon arrival at 6:15 PM that there was no room reserved for me. The front desk staff were polite, but the situation quickly went downhill from there.
When I was finally assigned a room, I discovered dirty towels left from previous guests. The staff member assisting me assured me the room would be cleaned while my children and I went out for dinner. However, when we returned at 9:25 PM, the room was still dirty. The sheets hadn’t been changed, and there were bugs, hair, and even lashes from previous guests.
To make matters worse, I was informed that two unidentified men would be coming to my room at 9:45 PM to “check the toilet,” which was extremely unnerving as a single mother traveling alone with four children.
I had no choice but to leave, as the hotel failed to provide the clean and functioning accommodations promised. Despite my patience and attempts to resolve the issue, the hotel not only charged me for the room but also added an extra $100 deposit fee, even though I stayed on the property for less than 20 minutes.
I have reported this establishment to the health department and the Better Business Bureau and disputed the charges with my bank. I strongly advise against staying at Lake Erie Lodge due to their lack of cleanliness, poor service, dishonest business practices, and unsafe environment.

This place might be good for one night. I would never stay here again and would gladly pay a big chain hotel 300 a night than stay here. The remodel is a joke, the previous owners are probabaly turning over in their grave. It's just not good, beds are terrible as well. When I'm back in Erie I'll gladly go to a large chain hotel and drive further to the beach than stay here. No one was ever at the front desk, there upstairs. Check in, no one there totally dark, leaving in morning no one at desk. You have to call a phone number to get some one. The people who run these are clueless, they charge for additional towels as well than are not even. Paper thin.

The location is great! However the female staff are down right nasty and rude! Starting with the owner who proceeded to take the chair from my paid room with out me knowing moving my personal belongings. The man at the front desk apologized advising me she is medicated and acts out. Then 2 hours after checking out I was called by the owners daughter who accused me of stealing all the linens. I tried speaking with her professionally explaining there was 3 cleaning crew members there upon check out but she refused to listen hanging up she decided calling me back to back over 15 times was funny telling me how they don’t need my money and I’m not welcome there. I am shocked how I was treated by the female staff! Great place terrible staff

I can’t even bring myself to hit one star. This was the most horrific place have ever walked into. We had booked three nights three rooms and read the reviews. Well most of the reviews. I kind of feel like it was reviews that we were able to see. Upon arrival we were greeted by filth stains, smells and a few random bugs. We had brought all our own cleaning, supplies, towels, sheets, pillowcases pillows, because that’s just how we travel. So we began to clean the rooms and as my daughter was looking around her room, she had noticed a lot of black mold. We then move some furniture and look further and there was leaky stuff all over the floor under the refrigerator. There was mold everywhere. There was what looked to be blood and fecal matter. Splashed on the stain sheets. The curtains on the inside were just splashed with filth we really were contemplating leaving, but didn’t want to ruin everyone’s time , after settling in for my daughter to notice bugs running around around her room and after taking a closer look, they were absolutely cockroaches in the garbage under the refrigerator in that leakage of stuff. We had the other people look around their rooms. There were random bugs there was mold and all three rooms under the bed on the walls at the baseboards Cockroaches were not noticeable at that time however, I am sure they were there because there were big gaps under the doors. There were big holes in the walls so if they had access to one room, they absolutely had access to all the rooms. we packed up our cars we went to the front desk. We kindly asked for a refund and described why we had to leave. We had only been on the property for an hour or two. We were denied any refund then when we showed the videos and photos of the cockroaches we were told that one room that was the ones the video was taken from would be refunded at a later date. It was 2 AM. We had booked an expensive hotel just somewhere for us to go and lay down so they decided to drive home then my nephew had to leave his vacation and help them get home at such a late time , we went back in the morning to to speak to someone about a refund we were given the runaround about the owner wasn’t there or he would be back at another time he would have an exterminator inspect the rooms and if there were roaches everywhere then we would all get refunds everything had to be done later. I’m assuming he was hoping that we would go home and try to recoup our loss from there. We then went back two days later before we left Erie to try to talk to them again about refunding our money only to be given the runaround. We just asked for a copy of the signed receipt and we were denied that we were really just at wits end so now we are home trying to figure out how to recoup any of our money, we are going to contact the health department the Better Business Bureau and try any legal avenues just to get our money back if anyone else has had any similar experiences which I am sure there are please put your reviews up. Hopefully, we can help other people that were taken advantage of somehow get some of their money back , this place is a health hazard. They should not be allowed to continue to take peoples money or to let people stay on a property that is so horrible. How can one person benefit financially from literally stealing and false advertising? The photos that we saw on the website were misleading. Taken from angles and set ups that were not the case. The filth is indescribable. I cannot stress enough to stay away from this property.
